Africa4Future is a joint accelerator program between the global aerospace accelerator of Airbus, BizLab, and Make-IT in Africa, a program of GIZ, the German Agency for International Cooperation. First launched in 2017, the # Africa4Future initiative was created by Airbus BizLab with the aim of encouraging and supporting entrepreneurship in Africa. Actually, the Africa4Future initiative includes expert workshops at Airbus in Europe, showcase events & the opportunity to work on a project with Airbus and GIZ.
Through Africa4future, Airbus seeks to build bridges between the aerospace industry and the different actors in Africa. For this third edition, the accelerator is open to new African companies, service providers, software companies that are actively working on solutions in agriculture and infrastructure related to remote sensing technology. This includes automation, blockchain, artificial intelligence, data analysis, composite materials, manufacturing and more. Infrastructure refers to transportation/logistics mapping, water monitoring, waste management, real estate, urban development, and other related areas. In addition, the program is implemented by the Co-Creation Hub (CcHUB), a Pan-African innovation center with a history of accelerating the application of social capital and technology for economic prosperity. CcHUB will provide strategic support and industry know-how to new businesses to involve multiple stakeholders within their ecosystem and facilitate connection with these global organizations.

What is Airbus BizLab?

Airbus BizLab is a global aerospace business accelerator where new companies and Airbus intrapreneurs accelerate the transformation of innovative ideas into valuable businesses. Airbus BizLab has developed a “hybrid” concept to work closely with new companies and, at the same time, allow smaller organizations to better understand the needs and ways of working in large groups. Airbus BizLab offers to the projects in the initial stage wide support in the form of a 6-month acceleration program. Startups have access to a large number of Airbus trainers, experts in various domains and support staff, free hosting and a Demonstration Day with Airbus decision-makers, venture capitalists, Airbus customers, and partners. Eligibility for Airbus Bizlab Africa4Future Aerospace Accelerator Program

To be eligible for the Airbus Bizlab Africa4Future Aerospace Accelerator Program, the organization is searching for startups/solution providers/companies that:

create value in the agriculture and infrastructure sectors. have the ability to take advantage of remote sensing technologies are in operation for at least 1 year. have an existing product with traction (customers and/or revenue) possess a strong management team have experience leveraging partnerships to create impact In addition to the above, companies must be registered in Africa and at least one active member of the founding team must be a citizen of an African country.

Accelerator Timeline Time

The program is designed to be a combination of virtual and physical commitments. This ensures that you can continue running your business during the program. The companies accepted in the accelerator from April 13, 2022, would participate in virtual training sessions, expert sessions with Airbus experts, physical workshops, exhibition events in Europe and Africa. The timeline for physical commitments is as follows and virtual training sessions would take place during the 3 month period;

April 13-17: Release week (virtual) May 3 to 16: workshops and showcase in Africa June 1 to 13: Exhibition of events, partner meetings, and workshops in Europe. July 6 to 8: Presentation to the leadership of Airbus and GIZ Trips, accommodation, and food will be covered for one person per start for all workshops and events. Workshop attendance is mandatory.

Application Deadline

The deadline for the offer is March 14th at 11:59pm in your local time zone (GMT +1). The successful candidates have access to BizLab coaches and a large number of experts in various domains; free co-working space; learn and act sessions; access to prototyping and test facilities, and a Demo Day with Airbus decision-makers, partners, customers, and venture capitalists. The BizLab offers an equity-free cash funding option of up to 45,000€ to implement a Proof of Concept. The payment is subject to the successful delivery of a prototype in accordance with a specified use case defined with an Airbus function. 20 selected startups will be provided with a voucher of 5,000€ for the travel and accommodation costs during the program Airbus BizLab will issue an invitation letter and if possible provide contacts at the embassies, but won´t pay the visa costs.
